5th & 6th Class Carol singing

Well done to all in 5th & 6th who went carol singing on their penultimate day at school before the Christmas break. We visited Mae’s house – it’s a bit of an annual tradition now – where we brought our festive spirit and best singing voices.

Stunning snowflakes

1st and 2nd Class ensured that it would be a white Christmas for them at least earlier this week. They got their scissors out and skilfully cut pieces of paper into the beautiful snowflake shapes you see above. They’ve certainly been the most artistic class in the school this year! Let’s hope that it is a white Christmas for them.

Infant carol singing

Our Junior and Senior Infants performed some Christmas carols for their Mums and Dads yesterday morning in the Junior Infant classroom. Well done to all of them who managed to contain their excitement about the fact that there are only 3 more sleeps long enough to sing their songs!

You’ll also see a photo of our 5 winners from our Christmas jumper competition. We asked each class to design their own Christmas jumpers and the money raised went to charity. Well done to all of those who participated.

Christmas Time in Seniors

Senior Infants have been so busy this week doing lots of Christmas activities. We made Christmas ornaments from clay and decorated them with paint and glitter. We made cards and used stencils to print Christmas pictures on the front. And best of all………we baked delicious Christmas cookies and decorated them with festive icing and treats. What a week we have had!!! We really deserve to relax and enjoy our Christmas holidays now!

Merry Christmas to everyone from Senior Infants!!!

A bit of a draught

5th & 6th have been teaching each other the basics of playing the game of draughts. We had 7 ‘experts’ today who taught their classmates the basics of the game. In the new year we’ll be playing a little more often and, once everyone’s learned how to play, we’ll start our own draughts league. Well done to all of today’s tutors.

K’nex

We’ve been lucky enough in Sooey N.S. to have made a connection with Abbott Ireland and thanks to them, we recently received several boxes of K’nex sets. Each class received some boxes and you’ll see some pictures above of how Mr. Gately’s class have been putting the sets to use. They’ve been excellent for creativity and they’ll be put to full use early next year when Engineer’s Week rolls around. Many thanks to Martin and all at Abbott for sponsoring the K’nex sets.
